Once your streaming account has been funded, you may schedule any stream type you may need. Note that before scheduling a stream, you must have the necessary funds available within your streaming account.
To schedule a new stream, head to the "Streams" page and select "Schedule new stream" from the top of the table.
NOTE: Streams may be modified up to 10 minutes or more before the scheduled start time to either change the date/time or delete the stream.
A live stream is any stream that will be streamed live using an RTMP URL/key via apps such as OBS, Zoom, or any other live streaming tool of your choice.
To schedule a live stream you simply need to enter the scheduled date and time you wish to have your live stream available, calculate the cost for the stream, and schedule it. Once you click "Schedule Stream", it will prompt Metamask to create a transaction to lock the amount of funds needed for the stream.
Once the transaction is confirmed, you will be able to access the stream details including the RTMP URL/key, as well as the m3u8 playback URL needed to playback the stream within Decentraland or your favorite app.
NOTE: Live streams will only playback during the scheduled time and when the RTMP feed is being received from your preferred app.
A video on demand (VOD) stream is any stream that you wish to make available on-demand, often using a pre-recorded video file and a play button allowing users to playback the video anytime.
To schedule a VOD stream you first need to upload your video before scheduling the date and time you wish to have your live stream available. To upload your video file go to the "Video Assets" page and select "Upload New Video" from the top of the table.
Browse for a supported video file type and start uploading. Our backend system will transcode and optimize the video for playback after it's been uploaded, and store it for future streams you wish to schedule. To refresh the status, click on the "Refresh Asset" icon for the specific video.
NOTE: There is currently no cost associated with uploading, transcoding, and storing video file assets.
After your video file is uploaded successfully, it's ready to schedule. Go to the "Streams" page and select "Schedule New Stream" from the top of the table. Select the "Video On Demand" option and select your video file/asset you previously uploaded, enter the scheduled date and time you wish to have your live stream available, calculate the cost for the stream, and schedule it. Once you click "Schedule Stream", it will prompt Metamask to create a transaction to lock the amount of funds needed for the stream.
NOTE: When scheduling VOD streams, it's important to make them available (scheduled) for the minimum duration of the video. For example, if it is a 95 minute video, it's recommended to schedule the stream for a minimum of 2 hours otherwise it will not playback the entire video.
Once the transaction is confirmed, you will be able to access the stream details including the m3u8 playback URL needed to playback the stream within Decentraland or your favorite app.
A stream relay is any stream that will playback or "relay" an existing stream that otherwise isn't compatible or available for Decentraland playback directly. This feature is compatible with a variety of streaming providers such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, and many others! See here for a full list of supported streaming providers.
To schedule a stream relay you simply need to enter and verify the stream URL from your favorite streaming provider and the scheduled date and time you wish to have your live stream available. Next, calculate the cost for the stream, and schedule it. Once you click "Schedule Stream", it will prompt Metamask to create a transaction to lock the amount of funds needed for the stream.
NOTE: To successfully verify the URL the stream must be online and available. At the scheduled time the service will re-verify the stream automatically to ensure the correct stream is playable.
Once the transaction is confirmed, you will be able to access the stream details including the m3u8 playback URL needed to playback the stream within Decentraland or your favorite app.
NOTE: Stream relay will only playback during the scheduled time and when the 3rd party stream URL feed is available. If the feed is not available 10 minutes before the start time, then your stream will not be available and refunds will not be issued.
